The Green Smoothie Challenge

This month I am working on sticking to a clean diet. As much as I know about healthy eating, it is still hard to stick to. One reason why it is so hard is that cravings kick in and I find myself in my pantry looking for goodies.
A few weeks ago I started incorporating more green smoothies into my diet. I felt so energized and had NO cravings at all. My body was getting everything it needed. Oh, and I lost 5 lbs boo-ya

Here is how my day went:
Wake up and drink 2 cups of water (plus drink water throughout the day)
Breakfast: Green smoothie
Snack: (only if I felt hungry) Fruit and a handful of nuts
Lunch: Large salad with a protein like tuna, chicken, or chickpeas.
Snack: Small green smoothie
Dinner: Soup/Green smoothie/ Protein and veggies

My plan above wasn't exactly like this each day. I just listened to my body and ate when I felt I wanted to. The key was to get in as many nutrients as possible in a day and I am telling you- it works. You feel so great doing this.
I am ready to get back into this now since I just got a few bags of frozen strawberries, blueberries, and mango. Now I am ready to go and can't wait!

I found this great website that is now doing a 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge. The recipes look really good and you can adjust them to your liking. You can see it- HERE.
I will try to post some of the recipes I have made and I hope you give it a try as well.

Are you doing anything to start the year healthy?

  1. Good for you! I checked out the challenge. How much frozen spinach do you use when they say to add fresh spinach? Do you adjust the recipe when you use frozen fruits in place of fresh?

    1. I dont measure the frozen spinach, just kind of throw it in. But be sure not to add too much, you don't want to taste the spinach. As for using frozen fruits, I add water to help it blend, but the result is really nice and thick when using frozen fruit.
